How Can You Increase The Fertility Of Bulldogs?
July 15th, 2009 • Related • Filed Under
I am trying to breed my bulldogs. I had the sire tested for his sperm count so I can advertise him for stud services as well. The vet said that He has a low sperm count, but the sperm cells were in very good condition.
Do you know any treatments that can increase his fertility?
I heard Glutathione and/or honey works. Is this true? How do I give it to him?

Hey why don’t you try Vitamin E in his diet.?
It comes in GelCaps
usually comes in 400 iu per cap at drugstore.(it is a vitamin supplement for people)
But I found 1000 iu per GelCap on line. . I use it for My Bulldogs.
Needless to say they are a “powerhouse”.
Dosen’t hurt to try. If you want to try and Bred your bulldog – I say Go For It. And Good Luck.

I agree with Bassetnut. There is usually a *reason* (genetic, health, or otherwise) that dogs have a low sperm count. Bulldogs have enough reproductive issues as it is. Why would you want to pass that on?

why didn.t you ask the vet while you were there? shouldn.t you not breed him since that isn.t a good quality and may be passed on????? even if he is perfect in every other way…..but i guess stud services is easy money huh€???-jokes-i don.t think its a good reason to breed-

Make sure he is eating a quality diet and is generally well-cared for.
Otherwise I don’t believe in treating most breeding problems like that, since they are generally passed on to the offspring. Either he is fertile, or he is not meant to breed.
EDIT: “By the way fertility problems is not hereditary.”
Wrong, fertility problems in an otherwise healthy dog are usually secondary to issues which tend to be inherited.

“Very good condition” is not acceptable for breeding. They should be the epitome of perfection. And he is not. Bulldogs are being notoriously over bred so people can make a quick buck. And the breed is suffering terribly from it. Why do you want to breed? Do you know the risks concerning your female? If your female makes it through the C Section are you prepared to put your life on hold for 8 weeks (maybe longer)? Just because your vet said that he was in very good condition you want to breed? Did your vet explain the ins and outs of breeding bulldogs? This isn’t something that you learn as you go. You should get a mentor and learn everything before placing your females life on the line.
