Why Do Filipinos Dersires To Have A Fairer Skin?
July 5th, 2009 • Related • Filed Under
Filipinos are known to a race of color, its been an irony that television in the philippines is bombarded by skin whitening commercials, at a given fact that there is a market for such products. Why do we patronized such product. Why is there such a phenomenon? Is it also happening in other countries?

Not only the filipinos, the indonesians and indians(from India) care alot about fairness as well. Many asian people feel that the fairer the woman is, the more beautiful she is. It’s a very shallow thought but it’s a thought that will continue to be around in Asia for a long long time.

In the Philippines, darker skin tends to mean that the person is a laborer (works in the field etc) while a Filipino who has lighter skin is thought to be wealthier and does not do field work etc.
