in places like Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, etc. white skin is highly prized (evidenced by the number of skin whitening commercials). But in the “West” most people think dark skin is more appealing.

That way, people would be more motivated to change who they are inside, rather than how they look on the outside (e.g. Michael Jackson might not be motivated to hit the bleotch and whiten his skin).

Why is it an issue when dark-skinned people want to lighten or whiten their skin but every beach you go you see white people getting tan and they don’t get reprimanded for it.
