Has Anyone Ever Tried Skin Whitening Pills?

Has anyone ever tried them? and if so, do they work. I just bought a bottle, but recently found this article saying that most of them do little to nothing for skin whitening. If they did work, what were they called? Or will buying plain out glutathione pills whiten/lighten skin?
