i grew up in ohio and always thought of irish to be red haired or pale skinned. granted there is many in nyc like that to but more often then not, i meet brown hair blue eyed with tan or olive skinned or black haired/brown eyes with average skin or even olive skinned… someone said that most of the Irish Americans in North Eastern cities are “Black Irish” just like most of the Italian Americans in the North Eastern cities are “Sicilians” is this true? cuz its not often i saw a person with blue eyes and natual tan/olive skin and in ny i see that, and most are irish…

Also, I must say as an Anglo Saxon i come from a different background, but having lived in a lower class Ethnic White neighborhood in Brooklyn NY, i did notice that they were very unwelcoming to all outsiders(ive seen Bronx Tale and West Side Story + other movies involving Irish and Italian Americans attacking Blacks/Hispanics) i was constantly called a “yuppie homo” by the young irish and italian hooligans who felt the need to harrass me when i walked back from the subway station…it was for just living there and no i am not gay at all.

Why are Irish, Italians, Polish, Russians, Greeks, Spaniards, Albanians all like this to outsiders AND minorites?! the movies are very true!

Whitening soap would not be a choice for me.
