Article by Chris Murran

In a word, yes. Let’s examine the evidence from research at a major universities, and studies published in distinguished medical journals.

What the doctors found.

* Effective skin bleaching creams work by impacting the pigment melanin.* The doctors pointed out kojic acid works to inhibit new melanin in skin cells.* They point out that for years the Japanese diet has included kojic acid for general health benefits.* The doctors consider Arbuton an alternative medicine that inhibits melanin activity.* Vitamins C and B3 can be effective.

Excessive melanin, drawn to the skin surface, explains everything from age spots and freckles to birth marks and irregular dark patches called hyperpigmentation. The doctors took a look at what they called “depigmenting agents”. These substances encourage melanin to disintegrate, and inhibit new formation. Researchers examined over-the-counter skin bleaching creams, which act as depigmenting agents, as well as prescription-strength skin bleaching products.

Chemical skin bleaching products were the first generation, and the doctors note ingredients have been found to cause problems.

* Mercury worked, but health risks of repeated exposure to mercury came to light.* Products containing steroids fell from favor.* One common ingredient, hydroquinone caused a raft of serious side affects. It was then linked to cancer. You will still find hydroquinone in some skin bleaching products, including prescription-strength skin bleaching creams.

Non-chemical skin bleaching creams came along, utilizing natural ingredients.*Natural acid shakes up the pigmented cells that darken skin. Skin lightens over time.*As was cited previously, scientists find kojic acid is a trustworthy skin lightener.*One home remedy used citric acid from lemons.*Similarly, ascorbic acid, a form of vitamin C, exhibits a skin lightening capacity. Ascorbic acid noticeably lightened age spots and skin discolorations on the skin of patients with medium to dark skin tones after three months of treatment, according to a study reported in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science.

Comparing Medical Procedures with Skin Bleaching Creams is a Toss Up.

Canadian researchers reviewed the common techniques for skin bleaching. This included not only skin bleaching products, but also lasers, and skin peels. They concluded there is currently no evidence medical techniques are superior to topical skin lightening.

A Note About Glutathione.

An antioxidant, glutathione, has surfaced as a skin lightener. A report in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science noted the effectiveness of glutathione, but cautioned the amount of glutathione needed in topical products is not yet standardized. Translation: they don’t know how much is too much.

What kind of skin problems respond to skin bleaching creams?

1. Age and liver spots2. Freckles3. Underarm skin4. Private parts colorations5. Birth marks6. Moles7. Sunspots8. Melasma-patches of irregular over-pigmented skin

You don’t have to have a skin problem to use a skin bleaching cream. Someone may decide to use a skin bleaching product for overall cosmetic effect. Lighter, smoother skin is considered by many cultures to be the beauty ideal. Movie stars who use skin lighteners inspire their fans to try skin lightening creams. Skin lightening products, used over time, can really work.

I’ve been bleaching my face for a while now, in fact, I was planning on bleaching my face today but my friend told me a couple of days ago that bleaching doesn’t make hair grow back more so I was relieved, but then she said “but it DOES make your hair longer” so I freaked out. Is it true? Do the chemicals have anything to do with lengthening hair? I use Boots’s Expert Hair Lightener. Help?

Article by Alicia Green

Skin whitening pills have drawn the hopes and interest of sufferers of hyperpigmentation problems, such as melasma, acne scars, dark patches and age spots. They’ve also drawn the attention of people who want to lighten their overall skin tone. But is there really a skin whitening pill that’s safe, do they really work, or are they just a waste of money?

The truth is that there are safe, natural and effective ways to fade pigmentation without cosmetic surgery. Many of these are relatively unknown. In skin lightening, knowledge is key. Some of these little known ways to lighten pigmentation are topical applications, such as whitening creams, acids, and other solutions to apply to your face – some of which you can even make yourself from ingredients you buy at the grocery store. Others are internal supplements that are known to be effective, such as vitamins and minerals, similar to the idea of taking a skin whitening pill.

However, in my investigation of various skin whitening pills on the market, I have found that most products seem to be making money from customers who aren’t fully informed of the facts.

Some of these pills are based on sulfur, which is what is found in the supplement MSM. You can buy MSM at your local drugstore or search for a deal online. For – you will get yourself a several month supply. MSM is all natural and safe. Because of its sulfur it’s been found to be effective in reducing and fading pigmentation. Obviously, you don’t need to buy an expensive bottle of sulfur pills through an online distributor for to get this effect. Simply do it yourself, and add MSM to your daily routine. You can start with 1-2 grams a day, and as you adjust to it, you can increase your dose to as much as 8 grams a day. These pills will fight and help to reduce your hyperpigmentation and even out your skin tone, they will make your skin healthy, soft and renewed, but they won’t whiten your overall complexion.

Some expensive and exclusive skin whitening pill formulations simply contain antioxidants, vitamins, and some of the natural lightening ingredients you should already be using in your skin whitening cream. Generally these herbs will attack areas of hyperpigmentation, but they won’t whiten the overall complexion. Instead of taking pills like this, I’d recommend making sure you have good vitamin supplements that you take separately, and keeping the bleaching herbs topical by using them in your natural whitening cream instead of taking them internally. It’s simpler, cheaper, safer, and it’s all that’s needed to do the trick. There’s no need to overload your bloodstream and tax your liver with all of these whitening herbs by taking them orally as well.

Other skin whitening pills are based on L-glutathione. The premise is that the side effect of massive doses of L-glutathione is overall skin lightening. It is recommended to take it with high doses of alpha-lipoic acid and Vitamin C. Results vary, and in the process of finding out if this will work for you by taking mega-doses of these supplements, not only will your wallet be lightened, you may become tired, lethargic, and possibly even anemic.

There is no proof that taking this combination truly lightens your skin, and it may be risky to try. Some users have found there to be no visible results, and have simply wasted a lot of time and money to find this out. If you’re searching for a skin whitening pill, don’t be taken in by the hype and possibly pseudo-scientific claims on the product website. Most of what works, you can do yourself, some of what is recommended in skin whitening pills may be risky and harmful to your health, and some just may not work at all.

Has anyone else noticed that only blacks that sorta look like whites are “acceptable” to the mainstream? Also, why do we refer to President Obama as a black, when he is half white? I’m an old white guy, but I think race relations are pretty much nowhere, despite the constant reassurances (mainly from the Right) that racism is dead. I like Obama, but he does NOT nail down a black presidency, in my mind.

Best answer:

Answer by Sonic The Hedgehog
Yep, Take Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Beyonce for example. Black people with european features are always presented as beautiful. If you have features that are more African they are considered ugly.
