Question by *cusp of magic*: Is N-acetyl cysteine actually better than takin Glutathione supplements?
I don’t want to be “white” I just want to even and brighten my skin tone. I have tried L-glutathione but the guy at the health food store said N-acetyl cysteine would actually be better for raising my glutathione levels….because it stays in the body longer….I even heard just Vit. C alone will brighten and even skin tone??? So who wants the best answer from me?

Best answer:

Answer by Krissy M
I dont think so, I have seen people took NAC and even Cysteine but didnt really lightened at all. Vitamin C can only help Glutathione to stay on its usable and reduced form. It cannot lighten your skin alone. From experience, I found the Glutathione with proper formulation works best. Well maybe its just me. But there are alot of Glutathione users who have seen great results in just a couple months sometimes less. I have also heard that some people experienced headache in taking NAC.

So I guess ill just stick to a good brand of Glutathione Whitening Pills

Have you seen http://www.superwhiteningpills.net ? They sell a good formula of Glutathione and its 500mg with other components. I have checked their testimonials and it looks amazing! Maybe will check them soon coz Im desperate to be light-skinned, lol

Hope that helps

Las Vegas, Neveda (PRWEB) September 23, 2011

Web entrepreneur Rose Byerly is pleased to debut her online supplement store, http://www.NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com. The site, launched in August 2011, carries healthful supplements including alpha lipoic acid, amino acid, digestive enzymes and fiber, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and health and beauty products. A complementary site pertaining to healing, http://www.LightWorkerUSA.com is also run by Byerly.

“On NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com we offer natural supplements that are screened by me for quality,” said Byerly. “These are supplements that I have used for my own healing or that other people I know have used successfully for their healing.”

Alpha lipoic acid supplements, the namesake of the retail site, give the body an antioxidant boost. Unlike other antioxidants that only work in water or fatty tissues, alpha lipoic acid is fat and water soluble, meaning it can work throughout the body attacking free radicals and revitalizing other antioxidants in the system. A variety of sources are offered, including grape seed extract, pomegranate juice concentrate, and superior reds. If free radicals are a major concern, add other antioxidant supplements to a diet, like Astragalus Immunity herb tea or Acai berry extra strength 1200 mg Natrol. All nutrients are converted into amino acids, the body’s fuel. If bodies lack systemic enzymes needed to create the enzymatic cascade, the body will be lacking essential amino acids. Fortunately, those amino acids can be replaced through supplements like L-Glutathione 500 mg, L-Lysine 500 mg, or Mega Taurine caps – all of which serve specific purposes detailed on the site.

By now, most people have heard of the benefits of essential fatty acids, specifically omega-3 fatty acids. Supplements like Borage Liquid Gold, Krill Oil, and Sonnes Old Fashioned Cod Liver Oil can be effective in raising levels of good HDL cholesterol, reduce blood pressure in people with hypertension, and keep hearts healthy. Vitamins, long a staple of a balanced diet, are also available. Multi-vitamins for diabetic health, Emergen-C, Men’s Ultra daily caps, and VM-100 Complete Liquid vitamins are among those offered. As wonderful as the aforementioned supplements are, the body cannot use this nutrition without the aid of enzymes. Vitalzyme, in particular, is highly touted for increasing the biochemical reaction that makes life possible. It is recommended that the dietary supplement Vitalzyme be taken one to three times a day, in consultation with a physician. NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com in no way prescribes cures or diagnoses illnesses. Scales, pedicure sets, shavers, yoga mats, and other health and beauty supplements are sold through the site.

“I’m not out to make a killing. I started my business because I want to share with others the gift I have been given: the gift of life, the gift of help,” said Byerly. “That’s really the main reason that I started this business, especially LightWorkerUSA.com – that site is central as far as documenting my own healing, and NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com is right next to that. It all has to do with sharing the gift of healing, gift of wellness with others.”

Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Byerly and her staff. Each product sold through NaturalAlphaLipoicAcid.com has the minimum amount of fillers and the purest, best potency available. Additionally, shoppers will save 10 percent on many products and most items ship for free. Customers will always be able to speak with a live person. Feedback regarding products and services is encouraged so the site can continually improve. In the unlikely event that an order is not filled precisely, customers are urged to contact Byerly immediately so the situation can be remedied.

Said Byerly, “We will always use the golden rule as we conduct business by doing for others as we would have them do for us.”

For additional product information and reviews, visit the brand new blog, http://www.NaturalAlphaLipoicAcidBlog.com. Byerly frequently updates the interactive platform with insights into her own healing experience.

Roslyn, NY (PRWEB) September 16, 2009

The U.S. Market for nutritional supplements, including vitamins, minerals, herbals and combination products, is expected to reach $ 8.5 billion by 2012, a 39 percent jump since 2007.

Supplements can be beneficial

“Vitamin D is an important nutrient, for example” says Joshua L. Fox, M.D., leading dermatologist and medical director of Advanced Dermatology on Long Island and in New York City. “Studies show a connection between low serum Vitamin D levels and increased risk of certain types of cancers, neurologic diseases, autoimmune disease and cardiovascular disease. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends obtaining Vitamin D from natural food sources, including milk, but if that’s not happening, I encourage clients to take Vitamin D supplements (i.e. 1,000u for people with minimal sun exposure) at appropriate levels.”

In addition, Vitamins A, E and C have been shown to help a variety of skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and wrinkles. Studies have shown zinc and berberine help prevent and treat acne by attacking the “toxins” that cause flare-ups. Lycopene is an excellent antioxidant for the skin.

They can also negatively impact skin

Supplement makers tout the health benefits of their products, and target them to everyone from teens to seniors. Some supplements, however, may adversely affect the skin, resulting in itching, rashes, skin discoloration, acne, burning sensations, promote bleeding and hives, for example.

For a long time skin care manufacturers have primarily dealt with beauty from the outside, notes Dr. Fox. “But now, a growing number of cosmetic brands are rolling out new products promoting the idea that what consumers ingest can have just as big an effect on the healthfulness of their skin and the luster of their appearance as anything external they may apply. There is a growing convergence between external and internal beauty products.

“The key for consumers,” Dr. Fox continues, “is to understand that as beneficial as some nutritional supplements can be, some may have negative side effects that show up on their skin. Consumers should read labels carefully and ask their doctors or dermatologists if they have questions about taking supplements.” Remember that this area of cosmeceuticals is not as well studied as our pharmaceuticals which are FDA approved. Cosmeceutical manufacturers can make some outlandish claims intentionally that the government will usually not investigate.

Some supplements more concern than others

The U.S. National Library of Medicine Dietary Supplements Labels Database reports the nutritional supplements most frequently cited with skin side effects are: DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone); Chromium; Vitamin A; bee products (pollen, Royal Jelly); and Niacin (Vitamin B-3). DHEA, in fact, was formerly classified as a drug; today, after being reclassified by the FDA, it’s readily available as a dietary supplement.

What to ask before taking supplements

Before taking nutritional supplements, Dr. Fox suggests asking yourself these questions, some of which are recommended by the Iowa State University Food and Nutrition Department:

1. Do I need this supplement? (How much improvement can I expect?)

2. Do I know that this supplement is safe?

3. Do I know that the supplement works? (What is the risk/benefit ratio?)

4. Does this supplement interact with any drug or food I currently consume?

5. Can I afford this supplement? (Are there cheaper, equally effective alternatives?)

6. Do I know enough about this supplement?

“Thousands of dietary supplements are on the market,” says Dr. Fox. “Many contain vitamins and minerals to supplement the amounts of these nutrients we get from the foods we eat. But there also are many products on the market that contain other substances, such as high-potency free amino acids, botanicals, enzymes, herbs, animal extracts and bioflavinoids, for example.

“The Food and Drug Administration’s review of the safety and efficacy of these products is either non-existent, or significantly less, than for drugs and foods, so be alert about using nutritional supplements, especially if they are not ‘pure,’ but contain other substances,” says Dr. Fox.

The natural way to healthy skin

“Healthy skin reflects a healthy body,” he concludes. “A balanced diet, containing natural vitamins and minerals, plenty of water and exercise will enhance the health of your skin now and as you age.”

About Dr. Fox:

(PRWEB) September 7, 2006

Free radicals are created in the body during normal metabolism process and due to external factors like pollution, stress etc. These free radicals attack body cells and damage them. They also change the DNA structure of the cells. It is estimated that each body cell experiences on the average around 10,000 instances of free radical attack everyday. Free radical attack on body cells is the root cause for aging and onset of cancer. The aging process by itself makes the body susceptible to myriad kinds of ailments ranging from Diabetes, obesity, heart ailments etc.

Antioxidants are the agents that capture and scavenge the free radicals thus preventing the free radical attack on the body cells. If we can ensure ample supply of antioxidants we can prevent cancer & other ailments and ensure a youthful life for a very longtime.

Some of the major antioxidants are Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Emblicanin, punigluconin, pedunculagin, super oxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) glutathione peroxidase (GPX) etc. Vitamin C is the primemost amongst antioxidants. Vitamin C is also required for the effective functioning of the other antioxidant Vitamin E. Vitamin C is a surefire antidote for Cancer, aging, allergy, asthma, diabetes, liver disorders, heavy metal poisoning and literally any imbalance in the body.

Our food habits are so such that the Vitamin C we get from the food is sufficient only to prevent Scurvy. (Scurvy is a fatal ailment caused by Vitamin C deficiency. It used to affect seafarers until 18 century as they were separated from fresh fruits and vegetables – the source of Vitamin C for a very long time). This is hardly sufficient to withstand the continuos free radical cell damage.

As such most of us are aware of this and have been consuming Vitamin C tablets and syrups available in the market. But are these really as effective? Answer is a big NO. The Vitamin C available as supplement/OTC etc. in worst case cannot even cure scurvy. What is masquerading as Vitamin C in the markets is nothing but pure Ascorbic acid. This is a naked substance extracted from corn sugar (glucose) and is devoid of all the cofactors. Vitamin C was first discovered by Szent-Gyorgi from pepper (he got Nobel Prize for this). He and all other scientists have found that Ascorbic acid in natural form occurs in a complex state. In this state it was found to have 7 identified and other unidentified compounds, comprised of Rutin (vitamin P), the bioflavonoid complex, the “K” facto, the “J”-factor, Tyrosinase (organic copper), ascorbic acid, ascorbigen, and components not yet identified. Though Vitamin C is chemically and structurally Ascorbic acid , it looses its antioxidant powers when removed from it’s natural condition.

When any Vitamin including Vitamin C is separated from its naturally occurring collective, cooperative complex, including trace mineral activators, and reduced to an isolated purified state, the vitamin activity has been lost. It is interesting to note that Scurvy, a severe vitamin C deficiency, cannot be reversed with ascorbic acid but can be reversed with paprika or any natural food source vitamin C complex. Szent-Gyorgi, the original discoverer of ascorbic acid, found that it would not cure scurvy; only the natural complex can do that.

It is very important that the supply of Vitamin C has to come only from natural sources like fruits, berries and vegetables if it has to be effective. Amla or Indian Gooseberry is the richest source of Vitamin C in it’s natural form. Gram to gram Amla contains almost 160 times the amount of Vitamin C as contained in an Apple and 25 times the amount as in an orange. Apart from Vitamin C Amla also contains other major antioxidants like Emblicanin, punigluconin, pedunculagin, super oxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) glutathione peroxidase (GPX) etc.

Los Angeles, CA, (PRWEB) November 21, 2009

Los Angeles-based Jarrow Formulas® announced today that Bone-Up®, a clinically validated micronutrient formula for bones and joints, and Vision Optimizer®, a comprehensive vision formula with blackcurrant that supports visual function, has won Better Nutrition Magazine’s 2009 “Best of Supplements” Award.

The award recognized outstanding supplement products in categories ranging from heart health and immunity to pain relief and cancer prevention.

Better Nutrition Magazine selected the winning products by conducting extensive interviews with a panel of experts, including naturopaths, medical doctors, and experts in the supplement industry. These experts also completed a comprehensive supplement survey and provided feedback on various supplements in 31 categories.

Bone-Up® is one of the best-selling bone health supplements ever developed. It supports both bone density and bone quality and features Australian bovine bone hydroxyapatite, the finest source of calcium available. Hydroxyapatite is the same form of calcium found in human bone tissue. This is bovine bone that has not been ashed or subjected to any chemical solvents. Bone-Up helps to replenish the calcium that is lost each year while nourishing the bone matrix for greater strength and resilience. In addition to hydroxyapatite, Bone-Up also contains Vitamin C, vitamin D3, vitamin K1, MK-7, Methyl B-12, magnesium, zinc, manganese, copper, boron and potassium citrate, all beneficial for optimal skeletal health and improved joint function.

In fact, Jarrow Formulas recently sold its 1 billionth capsule of Bone-Up®. Bone-Up® was launched more than 23 years ago with more than 4 million bottles sold.

Vision Optimizer , supports visual function and ocular antioxidant status and features the following nutrients:

Lutein and Zeaxanthin: critical antioxidant carotenoids for the macula of the eyes. Dark green, leafy vegetables are good sources of lutein and zeaxanthin. Lutein and zeaxanthin reduce age-related increase in the lens’ density.
New Zealand Blackcurrant Extract: contains powerful polyphenol antioxidants that reduce eye fatigue and promote eye comfort.
Grape Seed Extract: supports the strength of capillaries and other blood vessels in the eyes.
Alpha Lipoic Acid, Selenium and Vitamin B2: support the antioxidants glutathione and glutathione peroxidase, which protect the eyes’ lenses.
Ginkgo Biloba Extract: promotes circulation and contains potent free radical scavenging flavonoids known as ginkgoflavonglycosides.
Quercetin: an antioxidant that protects lens architecture.

“There are so many choices for supplements that finding products that are truly efficacious can be difficult,” says Mark Becker, Director, Advertising/Communications for Jarrow Formulas. “What makes this recognition so gratifying is that both Bone-Up® and the nutrients that make up the Vision Optimizer® formula have been proven effective in clinical settings. Each product is in line with Jarrow Formulas’ objective which is to offer high-quality, effective, affordable, and cutting-edge nutritional products that are based on sound scientific research and data.”

Fargo, ND (PRWEB) September 24, 2008

Along with an entourage of stylists, trainers and chefs, today’s celebrities depend on the care and advice of top-notch dermatologists to maintain that ethereal glow for which they’re famous. Their skin care regimens not only consist of topical peptides, AHAs, and antioxidants, they also include key dietary supplements, which skin care experts say are fundamental for toning and rejuvenating aging skin. At issue for the masses, however, is the high cost of such doctor-designed regimens, keeping them out of reach for millions of men and women who are anxious to benefit from them. Compounding the price issue is the current economic maelstrom that financial analysts predict will remain with Americans for several years to come.

The recent introduction of the Swanson System for Rejuvenated Skin by Swanson Health Products appears to be a timely, Cinderella-like solution to the aforementioned problem. The price of it is no mere fairy tale, though. At just $ 26.46, this skin program is verifiably priced at just one-fourth the cost of similar regimens of comparable quality. Inside are four targeted products, identified by noted dermatologists for helping to achieve the best skin possible.

Alpha Lipoic Acid protects delicate skin cells from damage by free radicals, a major cause of wrinkling and loss of firmness associated with aging.

Benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of vitamin B-1, helps preserve healthy collagen and other tissues susceptible to advanced glycation end-products (AGEs).

Ascorbyl Palmitate, also known as vitamin C-ester, exerts greater activity in cells and at lower doses than regular vitamin C. Skin experts notice that ascorbyl palmitate helps to stimulate the natural growth process of cells that produce collagen and elastin.

DMAE helps the body maintain muscle tone and a firm appearance by playing a key role in the production of neurotransmitters that enable communication between nerves and muscles.

Swanson Health Products offers the 30-day system on their website. It comes packaged with a 12-page booklet describing the supplements, plus lifestyle tips and foods for experiencing the best skin possible. Now through September 28 receive 22 cent shipping on orders of $ 40 or more using promo code FALL0908.

Swanson Health Products is an industry leader in bringing vitamins direct to consumers at the lowest price possible. Swanson Health Products goes a step beyond its competitors by offering powerful guarantees. All products are backed by a 100% Satisfaction, Money-Back Guarantee and Double the Difference Lowest Price Guarantee.

I am writing a thesis about glutathione. So I would like to know who are the manufacturers of these products in the Philippines:

Met, Lucida DS, Vaniderm, GlutaSnow, GlutaLife

Thank You! If you also know other glutathione pills, please list them in. Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by HELLO! My Name is Hugh Jorgan…
Not that you asked this, but glutathione supplements are a waste of money- it does not survive passage through the digestive tract. In order to increase glutathione levels, you have to get injections, which are short-lasting, or take its precursors.
